The IPM & law firm, Lewis Silkin, to host World Cup legal seminar
The Institute of Promotional Marketing (IPM) and law firm Lewis Silkin are hosting an afternoon seminar on 27th February focusing on "How to stay onside with the World Cup 2014". The seminar will give advice on how brands and agencies can avoid infringing intellectual property rights in their marketing communications.
Brands and agencies need to be aware of the restrictions around promotions linked to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this year – and indeed any major sporting events.
The seminar is free for IPM members, and £50 for non-IPM members. Further details are available on the IPM website. Spaces are limited, so anyone who is interested should register now at www.theipm.org.uk.
Speakers at the seminar include:
Philip Circus, who has been closely associated with the legal side of advertising and marketing for nearly 40 years and is the IPM's Director of Legal Affairs. He is the longest serving member of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and Chairman of the CAP Sales Promotion and Direct Response Panel.
Alex Kelham of Lewis Silkin, who before joining Lewis Silkin, spent seven years at LOCOG (London 2012) ensuring that the Olympic and Paralympic brands were protected and is a leading expert on ambush marketing. Alex now focuses on helping clients exploit and protect their intellectual property and navigate complex sports rights issues.
Hina Gohil, the IPM’s first-ever in-house lawyer. Hina previously worked in-house at Selfridges where she advised the marketing teams on compliance with the CAP code and all other applicable legislation.
The seminar will be held at the Lewis Silkin offices in London and will begin at 3.30pm.
