Slapped Wrists for Wimbledon … and more
As I mentioned in a recent Promo e-New article, I went to Wimbledon for the tennis tournament and hoped to see some promotional products in action there.
I wasn’t disappointed; there were several shops selling Wimbledon memorabilia ranging from tennis ball key rings to some very expensive clothing.
I bought a pair of wrist bands for a friend who is a tennis enthusiast. I was just about to give them to her and opened the bag to remove the price sticker … and it won’t come off without damaging the packaging!
Now I don’t know whether the manufacturer, supplier or retailer put the price on the packaging, but whoever it was wants their wrists slapped!
More slapped wrists from John Wray in his interview this month when he denounces those who buy purely on price and neglect the all important ROI. However, John, who has been in the industry for almost 25 years, also has lots of good things to say about the industry.
In our feature Malcolm Fritschy, MD of Oldeani, warns that not all suppliers of electrical products are adhering to the WEEE Directive, so if you are buying electronic or electrical goods, that should be a watch point.
I also attended the BPMA Dragon Boat Racing day (17 July) and my report and pics are on the Promo blog.
As you can see, it’s not just product news that we want to hear and write about at Promo e-News, we’re also very keen to have your advice, gripes and applause for company’s when things go well (I think I’ve got one of those coming up next month).
As always, I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
