Millennials, also known as Generation Y, are the demographic cohort that follows on from Generation X and represents those born around 1980 to 2000 into an increasingly online and socially-networked world. According to the blog '7 Things your Website Needs to Sell to Millennials', they will make up 50% of the workforce in 2020, and 75% in 2025 and are already responsible for up to 89% of business related purchase decisions.

Having grown up in a world where they are bombarded by advertising, traditional marketing practices are often ineffective for this generation. Millennials are more likely to listen to friends when considering whether to buy products or services.

The 7 tips provided in the slideshow offer helpful advice for tailoring your website to appeal to this demographic, including adding more user generated content in the form of reviews and case studies, and enhancing your social media presence.

According to the slideshow, 82% of millennials state that their trust in an organisation rises if they have a social media account and 4 out of 5 millennials are more likely to purchase from an organisation that supports a cause they care about.
