PSI revamps Technology Forum for 2014 show

Posted in Industry News on Mon 14 Oct 2013

How can promotional products be customised? And how durable are the products, anyway? Those are two questions which will be answered at the new Technology Forum at PSI 2014. The trade show, held from 8th to 19th January 2014, will include live presentations and exhibiting companies will represent the printing and promotional products finishing sectors. A Demonstration Area featuring a number of different stations will also be a part of the Technology Forum, allowing visitors to try out promotional items and experience the manufacturing and finishing process.

Besides presenting “finished” promotional articles, the Technology Forum also revolves around their development and the equipment used for finishing, demonstrating new processes and high-quality technologies that ensure durable results in promotional labelling. Exhibitors will bring their machinery to the trade show, thus being able to demonstrate the capabilities of their respective technologies directly to manufacturers and distributors. One company attending will be Mimaki, a leading manufacturer of large-format UV and solvent printers as well as inkjet printers for textile sublimation printing, cutting plotters and print & cut solutions. Neoflex, a UV-LED ink technology specialist, will also be onsite, as will Teca Print, one of the leading manufacturers of pad printing equipment and accessories. Additional companies featured at the Technology Forum include Sol Export, which offers promotional items with solar functions, Chocri, which offers customised chocolate and Badge4you who will reveal how badges are made.

Charlie Taublieb has been a fixture at PSI for a number of years now. He’ll return to in Düsseldorf in 2014. The American is a screen printing expert and author with over 20 years of experience. At the Demonstration Area of the PSI 2014 Technology Forum, he’ll show the audience how to print on T-shirts using screen printing techniques and share his expert knowledge.

Samsonite will be offering an opportunity not just to touch promotional products, but to test them under tough real-world conditions. The suitcase pro will set up a “Demolition Area”, offering visitors a chance to test the quality and strength of the suitcases to their heart’s content.

Finishing processes are an essential part of the industry – which is reflected, among other things, in the new location of the Technology Forum. This special area will be located directly adjacent to the Northeast Entrance of Hall 12 in 2014, making it the starting point for many visitors. The Demonstration Area will become a central attraction of the event. In addition, there will be seating and a separate media pavilion dedicated to promotional labelling topics.
