PROMOTA AGM April 27
The proposed merger between PROMOTA and the bpma will only go ahead if members vote for the move, Rod Duncan the chairman of PROMOTA has stressed. He confirmed that no decision or agreement on the amalgamation of the two organisations had been reached.
He continued, “We need to emphasise, in the strongest possible terms, that any merger will only go ahead with the blessing of PROMOTA members. If they vote for it, it will happen; if not, then it won’t.”
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be held on April 27, 2010.
Mr Duncan said he had been contacted by dozens of members who had concerns about the proposed merger. “Part of my job as chairman is to help deal with the concerns members have,” he said.
“I can’t do that any more clearly than by saying any potential merger between PROMOTA and the bpma is firmly in the hands of the membership. No agreement has been reached and any suggestion that it has is simply incorrect,” he added.
The PROMOTA board called a halt to initial merger talks late in 2009 and the association is currently undertaking a process of due diligence in respect of the bpma. Mr Duncan announced at the recent International PROMOTA Show dinner that the talks had now re-opened with a view to a merger on or around May 1.
“The impact on members of any merger is significant, and it’s vital that members have all the information to hand in order to help them reach an informed decision,” Mr Duncan said. “We will be communicating with members in the next few days to answer their concerns. We are an association based on trust and integrity and it’s important our members are kept informed right the way through this process.”
PROMOTA has experienced a high volume of calls following the announcement at the annual awards dinner on March 1. In order for the secretariat to answer questions efficiently, members are asked to please email their query to info@promota.co.uk.
Every response will be acknowledged by telephone within two working days. If you feel your enquiry has not been completely dealt with, you can contact the Secretariat with your questions on 0845 371 4335.
