Out With The Old and In With The New
Well, it looks like it’s going to be more than just the number of the year that’s changing in the near future – in this industry anyway.
It’s out with the old idea that the bpma and PROMOTA can merge, which is, I think, going to be replaced by the idea that they will now be far apart and will have to more clearly define their positions in the industry and their offerings to the industry and benefits to members.
It’s also sad to report in this issue that Volume Exhibitions’ Promotional Marketing Exhibition will not take place in 2010. However, having decided not to stage his show this year, Volume’s MD, Simon Tilley, has thrown his weight behind the new Incentives & Promotional Marketing – LIVE! exhibition, launched by Stephen Richards of Waypoint Exhibitions, a long-standing friend and business colleague of Simon’s.
And talking of exhibitions, we’ve got the Trade Only National Show taking place in the New Year (Ricoh Centre, Coventry, 27-28 January), closely followed by the International PROMOTA Show (NEC, Birmingham, 1-2 March).
Both exhibitions feature awards ceremonies, celebrating all that’s good and innovative in this industry. And, awards are the subject of our feature this month, so details of both these ceremonies and the categories involved can be found there.
Well, that just about wraps it up for this year, although we’ll continue to add news items between now and 4 Jan when most companies re-open for business.
It only remains for me to wish you all a happy holiday and I’m looking forward to hearing from you with your news and views in the New Year.
