I blame Kevin Costner
Kevin Costner was being interviewed recently by Graham Norton. He spoke of how his friend scriptwriter, Michael Blake, went from being a writer and ended up washing dishes. But didn't give up on his old pal Kevin to read the script and called him every day unitl he did.
Kevin finally got the message and was so impressed that he decided to make the film himself taking the lead role and directing. The script was Dances with Wolves and I think you know the success with which the story ends.
The point is sometimes in life you have to make it happen, a famous quote from another of Costner’s films was “if you build it, he will come”. However in business this is sometimes misinterpreted and thinking that by simply opening for business, they will maintain or increase their sales. This is not the case, you have to innovate to drive the initial traffic (online or in person) and then continually work to engage and reward your customers for their loyalty.
At EMC they love to work with businesses who both have the vision to build the field of dreams and the tenacity of Michael Blake (the script writer) to keep knocking on the door. They are starting to plan for the busiest period of the year. Many of their client base will thank and reward their customers for their trade and goodwill. Have you thought about how you would like to give a little something back or possibly what you need to build to make them come?
If you have an idea you would like to discuss or need inspiration please contact EMC, their creative team will get together and come up with something to blow your socks off!
