Gill Thorpe stands down from the BPMA Board

Posted in Industry News on Thu 11 Jul 2013

After 19 years of service on the board of directors of the bpma, Gill Thorpe has decided to stand down.

Gill commented on her decision: “I have been proud to have been part of this wonderful association and being able to make a contribution to the association and industry over the years. Being Chair and subsequently, President was a true honour - I have made some wonderful friends throughout the industry and I am incredibly proud to know I have made a difference.

“The time is right for me to stand down; it has been a massive commitment over the years and my increasing involvement with my procurement institute on the fellows committee and other not for profit volunteering roles along with the growth of The Sourcing Team means something needs to give!

“I thank all the bpma members, our partners in industry, the board and of course, our wonderful team at the secretariat for their support and friendship over the years.

“I am delighted that we have Viv now as our Chair and have offered to continue to support her and to act as an ambassador for our industry and association.”

Viv Blumfield, Chair of the bpma, said: “On behalf of the bpma Board I would like to thank Gill for her amazing contribution to the development of the association over the last 19 years. She must be one of the longest serving directors and we will sorely miss her. For 19 years she has been passionately campaigning to raise awareness of using promotional products with end users, improving standards and introducing new initiatives to support the industry. We thank her so much for all she has done and wish her well with her many other commitments in the future.”

Gordon Glenister, Director General of the bpma, added: “I have worked closely with Gill for a number of years, both as a director and as chair. Her commitment to the bpma has been enormous. She has been particularly supportive of the team here in London and we will greatly miss her.”
